"Canst thou by searching find out God?" (Job 11:7). "Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding... Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom" (Proverbs 2:3-6). "All things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me. Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures" (Luke 24:44,45).
If
we should undertake the task
Of
understanding our God's mind,
Then
who on earth now would we ask,
And
what shall we by searching find?
If
God would hide Himself from us,
Be
sure of this: He won't be found.
Yet
hear His Gospel marvelous:
In
Christ His wisdom shall abound!
When
we in earnest lift our voice
For
understanding from the Lord,
Our
God shall cause us to rejoice
In
truths within His Word explored.
The
prophecies our Lord fulfilled
In
Moses' Law which had been written,
Revealed
what the Lord had willed,
That
Christ for sinners would be smitten.
In
all the prophets and the Psalms
We
see the plan of God unveiled.
This
understanding greatly calms
Our
hearts in knowing Christ prevailed.
How
hopeless is the undertaking,
O
Lord, of understanding You,
Unless
the seeker is forsaking
The
lies exchanged for what is true.
Lord,
thank You for the understanding
You
give to us who seek Your face,
Imparted
still by Your commanding
To
grant us wisdom by Your grace.
