"In [His] hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind" (Job 12:10). "O give thanks unto the LORD... who remembered us in our low estate... and hath redeemed us" (Psalm 136:1,23,24). "He giveth grace unto the lowly" (Proverbs 3:34). "The Word was God... and the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us... full of grace and truth... And of His fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" (John 1:1-17).
How
great is the God we adore;
His
hand holds our soul and our breath!
He
knew our condition so poor,
For
sin was demanding our death.
Give
thanks to our wonderful Lord
Who
loved us in our low estate,
And
for us His soul was outpoured
With
grace so unspeakably great!
Our
Savior, exalted and holy,
Who
rules from eternity's throne,
Extending
His grace to the lowly,
Redeems
them and calls them His own.
"The
Word" is the title John gave
Portraying
the Lord of creation
Made
flesh for the souls He would save
By
grace from their just condemnation.
How
full is the grace we received!
How
great was the price that He paid
That
we might be saved who believed,
And
thereby the sons of God made!
Though
Moses had given the Law,
Its
power could only condemn.
The
grace and the truth that men saw
Was
offered through Jesus for them.
O
Lord, as we ponder Your grace,
Its
greatness exceeds our expression!
Descending
to die in our place,
You
purged from us every transgression!
Your
greatness in grace, precious Savior,
Is
more than our hearts can take in!
Forever
we'll thank You for favor
That
washed away all of our sin.
