"As he [Saul] journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: and he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, WHY persecutest thou Me? And he said, WHO art Thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest... And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, WHAT wilt Thou have me to do?" (Acts 9:3-6).
The
questions asked by God and man
Upon
the day when Saul was saved,
Displayed
the wisdom of God's plan
To
rescue sinners once depraved.
The
question comes from heaven first:
It
is our Savior asking, "WHY?"
We
see the rebel at his worst
Afflict
the apple of God's eye.
The
next inquiry comes from Saul:
It
is the trembling question, "WHO?"
It
is Christ Jesus! Hear Him call
And
manifest that He is true.
The
final question that we hear
That
Saul submits to Christ is "WHAT?"
Thus
wisdom starts with holy fear
Before
the door of grace is shut!
Lord,
thank You for this illustration
Portrayed
in Saul of Tarsus then
To
show the way of Your salvation
That
You extend to sinful men.
O
Lord, the Gospel that You gave
Thus
answers WHY You died for us,
Declaring
WHO alone can save,
And
WHAT we do: in You we trust!
