Changeless Cheer

"The LORD will give strength unto His people; the LORD will bless His people with peace" (Psalm 29:11).  "There is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24).  "We will be glad and rejoice in Thee, we will remember Thy love" (Song of Solomon 1:4).  "The Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of Me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome" (Acts 23:11). 

For every challenge we must face,

There is a Friend who's ever near

Extending to His people grace

For strength and peace with changeless cheer. 

Our gladness now does not depend

On changing tides of circumstance,  

But on our Lord, our faithful Friend,

Whose blessing overrules mere chance. 

As we recall our Savior's love

Which He expressed upon the cross,

We set our hearts on things above

With cheer that never suffers loss. 

At special times our Lord appeared

With words to cheer the heart of Paul

To give him boldness when he feared

And strength to go where He would call.

O Lord, how faithful You have been

In every circumstance of life

To show Your lovingkindness then

In times of peace as well as strife. 

We thank You, Lord, for cheer You  give

As changeless as Your wondrous name

In every moment that we live,

For though we change, You are the same.
