"Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?" (Job 38:2). "The words of the LORD are pure words... Thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever" (Psalm 12:6,7). "I will pour out My Spirit unto you, I will make known My words unto you" (Proverbs 1:23). "The Word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied... Then there arose certain of the synagogue... disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spake" (Acts 6:7-10).
The
words without knowledge abound
Which
serve to make things more obscure,
In
contrast to that which is found
In
God's Word preserved and so pure.
The
Lord still has promised to pour
His
Spirit on those who will hear
The
truth we are called to explore,
Which
God makes exceedingly clear.
The
Word of God quickly increased
As
God was then fanning the flame.
The
empty disputing thus ceased,
Unable
to counter God's claim.
The
need is no different today.
How
welcome the words are of grace
Which
teach us now what we should say
To
those who are seeking God's face!
O
Lord, we give thanks for Your love
So
clearly displayed on the cross,
Descending
to us from above
To
save us from unending loss!
Your
words, Lord, are welcome indeed,
By
which we discern what is right,
So
perfectly meeting our need,
Dispelling
the darkness with light.
Because,
Lord, Your judgment must come,
We
welcome Your words of salvation,
That
we may by all means save some,
Proclaiming
Your justification!
