"LORD, I have loved the habitation of Thy house, and the place where Thine honor dwelleth" (Psalm 26:8). "He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast" (Proverbs 15:15). "A feast is made for laughter" (Ecclesiastes 10:19). "Upon the first day of the week... the disciples came together to break bread" (Acts 20:7).
How
happy is the habitation
Where
Christ is honored in our midst
As
Captain of our soul's salvation,
The
Son of God whom we have kissed.
The
Lord who plucked our souls from hell
Is
worshiped as our great High Priest.
How
rightly does His honor dwell
With
love at His remembrance feast.
A
feast is surely made for laughter
To
celebrate a great event,
As
when our Savior rose up after
The
three days promised had been spent.
Upon
the first day of the week,
When
we have gathered breaking bread,
It
is our highest joy to seek
And
worship Christ, our Living Head.
O
Lord, we ponder, too, the cost
Portrayed
here in the bread and wine
To
ransom those who had been lost,
Who
gather now with You to dine.
How
happy You have made us, Lord,
In
this, Your honor's dwelling place,
Where
You are joyfully adored:
The
habitation of Your grace.
