"Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him [Abram]" (Genesis 14:18,19). "Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto Thy Word" (Psalm 119:65). "To the counselors of peace is joy" (Proverbs 12:20). "Now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested... through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus... that He might be Just, and the Justifier of him which believeth in Jesus" (Romans 3:21-26).
Melchizedek
is marvelous,
Who
brought to Abram bread and wine,
Because
he represents for us
Our
King of peace and Priest divine.
His
name means "King of Righteousness";
In
Salem He is "King of Peace".
He
illustrates how God will bless
With
mercies that will never cease.
How
rich these portraits are of Christ!
His
righteousness and peace thus met
When
He for us was sacrificed;
May
God forbid that we forget!
Lord,
You are Just and Justifier
Of
all who place their trust in You.
Melchizedek
thus lifts us higher
With
themes so marvelous and true!
