“O
God, thou art my God; early
will I seek Thee: my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a
dry and thirsty land, where no water is” (Psalm 63:1). “Jesus answered… If thou knewest the gift of
God, and Who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have
asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water… whosoever drinketh of
the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall
give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”
(John 4:10-14).
A
wellspring of water is found in our Lord
To
satisfy souls that would languish with thirst.
From
Him is the water of life freely poured
Where
blessings still flow in a land that is cursed.
How
many are searching where no water is!
There’s
no satisfaction apart from the Savior,
For
all of the wellsprings of water are His
Which
flow from the Spirit of God by His favor.
The
spiritual thirst that we find in our soul
Is
there for the purpose of drawing our hearts
To
find satisfaction in Christ to the full
With
water of life that no other imparts.
How
good is the Lord who provides such a gift
That
places within us this water-filled well
To
satisfy thirst and to graciously lift
Our
souls from the horrible prospect of hell.
We
thank You, O Lord, for this great illustration
Portrayed
in the water of life that You give.
You
laid down Your life to procure this salvation;
How
great are Your mercies whereby we now live!
