“And
now for a little space grace hath been showed
from the LORD our God… that our God may lighten our eyes” (Ezra 9:8). “In Him was life; and the life was the light
of men… He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He
power to become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on His name… And of His fullness have all we received, and
grace for grace. For the law was given
by Moses, but grace and truth
came by Jesus Christ… He saith unto them, Come and see” (John 1:4-39).
We
only have a little space;
Our
days are just a little span
Allowing
us to find God’s grace
And
be partakers of His plan.
That
God may lighten now our eyes,
The
Holy Spirit has been sent
Reproving
us to make us wise,
Persuading
sinners to repent.
The
wages of our sin is death,
But
life and light are in our Lord.
We
ought to use each fleeting breath
To
search His grace upon us poured.
Our
Savior visited His own
Within
His span of life on earth.
The
prophets made His coming known
To
show His line and place of birth.
Alas!
His own received Him not,
But
those receiving Christ were then
Thus
born of God by grace He brought,
By
which we too are born again!
The
Law exposed our guilt and shame
And
showed us we were fit for wrath,
But
grace and truth by Jesus came
To
set us in salvation’s path.
Beware! Our days are very few;
Our
span of life so soon will flee!
The
grace of God is ours to view
If
only we will “come and see.”
O
Lord, Your grace is our resort
That
spans the everlasting days.
Our
span of life on earth is short,
So
help us fill its space with praise!
