“Then
He said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets
have spoken: ought not Christ to have
suffered these things, and to enter into His glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He
expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself… And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you,
while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written
in the law of Moses, and in the
prophets, and in the psalms,
concerning Me” (Luke 24:25,26,44).
Did
not Jesus say He would rise from the dead?
Did
not all the prophets affirm this as well?
Did
not Christ declare that He meant what He said?
Did
not He defeat all the powers of hell?
“O
fools!” said the Savior who on that road walked
With
those who lamented that He had been killed;
Now
risen to reason with them as they talked,
He
showed them the Scriptures so clearly fulfilled.
How
slow were their hearts to believe what was spoken,
Though
Christ had been faithful to show them His power.
No
word of His promise had ever been broken,
And
that is His record as well to this hour.
And
thus Christ expounded the things that were so
Concerning
Himself that the prophets foretold.
The
Lord is still speaking to us as we go
To
show us the reasons why we should be bold.
In
Moses, the Prophets, and all of the Psalms
The
Lord is expounding to us in His Word
The
reasons to trust Him, and O how this calms
Our
hearts which are also with urgency stirred!
O
Lord, we give thanks for the reasons You give
To
go with compassion and great confidence
Wherever
You send us to show that You live,
So
sinners may flee to Your saving defense.
