“I
am the Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and
out, and find pasture. The thief cometh
not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might
have life, and that they might have it
more abundantly” (John 10:9,10).
Our
destiny would have been sealed at last;
The
law had condemned us, and there was no doubt
That
we were thus doomed by the guilt of our past!
There
was no acquittal; our sins found us out.
But
God knew our need, and He knew what to do
To
give us an access to heaven above.
The
Door into heaven was fully in view
When
Jesus our Savior embraced us in love.
Our
Savior encountered such horrible strife
To
fight for our souls He would win in the war.
It
was for our souls that He laid down His life,
And
this was the way He became heaven’s Door.
Thank
God! He provides an escape from our doom:
Our
Savior still stands as our Door that will save.
He
shows us the token of His empty tomb,
Where
He took the sting out of death and the grave.
O
Lord, we give thanks for the Door You became,
And
for Your own prompting by faith to come in.
We
worship You, Lord, as we ponder Your name,
Our
Door of salvation and Savior from sin!
