"Jonathan… hath wrought this great salvation in Israel… for he hath wrought with God this day" (1 Samuel 14:45). "The Lord said unto him [Ananias], Go thy way: for he [Saul] is a chosen vessel unto Me, to bear My name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel… And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus… hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost." (Acts 9:15,17).
How
marvelous is each account
Of
vessels strengthened with God's might,
As
Jonathan upon the mount
And
Saul when he received his sight.
The
Lord chose Ananias, too,
To
be His messenger to Saul,
Declaring
what the Lord would do
Through
him as he obeyed his call.
Though
Saul had been an enemy
(And
Ananias knew this well),
He
was a vessel who would be
Employed
to storm the gates of hell.
O
Lord, make us victorious
As
vessels who may do Your will
And
apprehend Your call for us
That
You have formed us to fulfill.
