Counsel of Correction

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye.  Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding" (Psalm 32:8,9).  "He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.  The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom" (Proverbs 15:32,33).  "I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock" (Acts 20:27,28). 

We surely need the Lord's instruction

To guide us in His perfect way,

Lest by the folly of seduction

We be like beasts that go astray. 

His truth is indispensible

Imparting to us understanding

That gives instruction to our soul

By every word He is commanding. 

The fear of God shall make us wise

As we obey our gracious Lord,   

But those refusing Him despise

The wisdom that He would reward. 

O Lord, Your counsel of correction

Is so essential for our walk,

For by it You extend protection

To us and to Your precious flock.
