"If ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers" (1 Samuel 12:15). "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them which showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers" (Acts 7:51-53).
When
Stephen, at Jerusalem,
Was
called to testify in court,
He
made the case accusing them
Of
not believing God's report.
It
was the same with Samuel
Who,
as God's lawyer, testified
And
warned the hearts that would rebel
That,
in God's court, they would be tried.
It
looked like Stephen was accused,
But
things were not as they had thought,
For
by the Lord he then was used
To
prosecute the case God brought.
O
Lord, the stiffnecked shall appear
On
judgment day before Your face.
May
we, like Stephen, without fear,
Proclaim
the Gospel of Your grace.
