"The posts went with the letters from the king... saying... The LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away His face from you, if ye return unto Him... but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them" (2 Chronicles 30:6-10). "Let the redeemed of the LORD say so" (Psalm 107:2). "The heart of the righteous studieth to answer" (Proverbs 15:28). "Who then can be saved?... With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:25,26).
The
messengers of Hezekiah
Went
forth with letters that He sent
To
turn the hearts to their Messiah
And
draw those who would then repent.
It
happened, as it does today,
That
many mocked their message then.
They
laughed at them and turned away
The
mercy offered by those men.
Let
not the mockery of those
Who
will not view the evidence
Now
mute the truth that Jesus rose
And
wrongly silence our defense.
Let
every soul redeemed from sin
Be
ready now to answer well
The
reason of our hope within
That
Christ alone can save from hell.
So
who then shall be saved at last?
With
men this is impossible,
Yet
all our sins on Christ were cast,
So
He alone can save the soul.
As
messengers of mercy here
We
take the Gospel of God's grace
To
those who yet will turn with fear
And
find in Christ their Hiding Place.
O
Lord, You left Your throne above
To
bring Your mercy down to man.
We
are Your messengers of love
To
show Your Gospel's wondrous plan!
Lord,
soon You shall return to earth,
And
every knee to You shall bow.
As
messengers with second birth,
We
show Your mercy offered now.
