“O give thanks unto the LORD… talk ye of all His wondrous works” (Psalm 105:1,2). “My son, keep thy Father's commandment… When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee” (Proverbs 6:20-22). “Our Lord… hath saved us… according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (2 Timothy 1:8,9).
So
many things we talk about
Might
just as well be left unsaid.
Let
empty words be filtered out
And
timeless truths declared instead.
In
many circles this would cause
A
silence in the conversation!
O
let us welcome such a pause
That
we may ponder our salvation.
It
shouldn’t be that hard for those
Who,
by God’s grace, have joined the ranks
Of
souls for whom He died and rose:
We
ought to start by giving thanks!
Now
let us speak about our Savior
And
talk of all that He has done.
He
gave Himself to purchase favor
For
those who were deserving none.
By
keeping His commandment near,
He
speaks to us throughout the day,
And
as He whispers in our ear,
He
leads us in His perfect way.
His
words of comfort do not cease
When
at our day’s end we have slept,
For
even then He gives His peace,
And
in His watchful care we’re kept.
The
morning comes when we awake
To
listen to His thoughts so kind
As
in His Word we daily take
The
counsel from His heart we find.
O
Lord, we thank You for Your plan
To
save and call us by Your grace
Before
the universe began
When
You made matter, time, and space!
Lord,
since these things are brought to light,
And
we have thus been saved by You,
Should
not Your beauty fill our sight
And
fill our conversation too?
Lord,
may Your Spirit daily teach
Our
hearts these timeless truths You gave,
So
with the Gospel we may reach
The
precious souls You long to save.
