“Your lamb shall be without blemish… And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses… and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you” (Exodus 12:5-13). “Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful… Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. For Thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling” (Psalm 116:5-9). “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil” (Proverbs 16:6). “We are made partakers of Christ” (Hebrews 3:14).
How
graciously the Lord has spoken
Regarding
our unblemished Lamb,
Foreseeing
Christ within that token,
The
Holy Seed of Abraham!
Behold
the blood which God would view
Upon
the door which they would “strike.”
Our
Lord and Lamb was stricken too
Upon
the cross, which this was like.
The
Lord our God is merciful
Who
gives to us this confidence;
Return
now to your rest, my soul:
The
Lamb of God is your Defense!
As
long as God shall give us breath,
To
give Him glory is our calling,
Who
saved our souls from certain death,
Our
eyes from tears, and feet from falling!
He
purged from us iniquity
With
grace and truth by Jesus Christ
And
taught us by His fear to flee
From
sin wherein we were enticed.
We
are partakers, by His grace,
Of
Christ, the spotless Lamb of God,
Who
thus became our Hiding Place
And
bore for us God’s judgment rod.
O
Lord, You knew the awful price
For
our redemption You would pay:
As
our unblemished Sacrifice,
You
saved us who had gone astray!
You
see the blood upon our door
Where
You have knocked to enter in.
Receive
our thanks forevermore
O
Lord, for purging us from sin!
Lord,
send us forth with this report
Of
spotless blessing in salvation
Where
blemished souls may now resort
And
hide in You from condemnation!
