“Turn you at My reproof: behold, I will pour out My Spirit unto you, I will make known My words unto you… The prosperity of fools shall destroy them, but whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely” (Proverbs 1:23,33). “God our Savior… will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus; who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time” (1 Timothy 2:3-6).
The
new year dawns upon this day
As
people focus on their goals,
Yet
many still refuse to pray
And
do not think about their souls.
As
men today yet stand aloof
And
wish for things they might afford,
The
Savior still extends reproof,
And
yet His counsel is ignored.
Beware
of such prosperity
That
turns the heart away from God
And
disregards eternity,
Pursuing
things that men applaud!
The
Lord will save from condemnation
The
souls that put their trust in Him.
He
gives the cup of His salvation
With
blessings that exceed the brim.
The
Lord is pleading with the lost
To
turn to Him and thus be saved!
Yet
many will not count the cost,
And
be destroyed for things they craved!
Our
God and Savior came as Man
To
earth, though He was our Creator,
To
carry out salvation’s plan
And
thus become our Mediator.
How
long will fools despise His love,
And
thus resist His Spirit sent?
The
Lord is calling from above:
How
long will sinners not repent?
O
Lord, You testified in time;
As
prophets had declared, You came.
You
tasted death for every crime;
Upon
the cross You bore our shame!
Lord,
as the new year hastens on,
We
pray that souls will prosper well,
Yet
not in wealth that soon is gone,
But
in Your grace that saves from hell.
