“And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people” (Exodus 13:21,22). “O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise Him, all ye people. For His merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth forever” (Psalm 117:1,2). “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
How
wondrously did God portray
His
presence in His people’s sight:
A
cloudy pillar every day,
A
fiery pillar every night!
The
pillar never was removed;
By
day and night it would appear.
The
presence of the pillar proved
The
Lord their God was always near.
By
day the pillar gave them shade;
It
shined when daylight then was gone.
The
pillar stopped, and there they stayed.
The
pillar moved; they followed on.
O
praise the Lord now, every nation,
For
God is faithful and is kind!
The
pillar illustrates salvation;
The
presence of our God has shined!
The
pillar in the desert led
To
show God’s presence and His favor,
Yet
Christ, now risen from dead,
Is
present as our Lord and Savior!
How
graciously our Savior leads
And
draws us daily to His throne
To
satisfy our deepest needs
And
make His wondrous presence known!
O
Lord, we thank You for Your grace
And
for Your presence in our life.
As
in the pillar, we can trace
Your
faithfulness through joy and strife.
Lord,
lead us on throughout our days,
As
once Your pillar also did,
To show the goodness of Your ways
As
in Your presence we are hid.
