Victory in a Verse

“God is the Judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another” (Psalm 75:7).  “Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end… Judgments are prepared for scorners” (Proverb 19:20,29). “I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered” (Jeremiah 35:17).  “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings” (Revelation 17:14). 

Our world wars are often long

And filled with great uncertainty.
That paradigm is surely wrong
For Christ’s returning victory!

Our God is King; He shall put down

Opposing armies in one verse!
There’s only One who wears the crown;
His enemies shall wear the curse.

Our God shall judge, for He has warned

These rebels who refuse to hear.
His wrath shall fall on those who scorned
And did not choose to heed or fear.

We see the strategy that’s planned

Foretold in Revelation’s book
When Satan and his armies stand
Against the Lord.  Let’s take a look:

The beast with his satanic power

And all earth’s kingdoms at his side
Assemble in their final hour
Against the Lamb who for us died.

Were you expecting chapters written

About the long and bloody war?
Behold!  In just one verse they’re smitten,
And there’s no battle anymore!

They’ve stood against the great “I Am”

Who with a word their judgment brings!
All these shall fall before the Lamb,
The Lord of lords, the King of kings!

O Lord, we thank You for reproof

That warns of judgment drawing near!
Though all the world stands aloof,
Your counsel calls on us to fear!

We thank You, Lord, for wondrous grace

That teaches us to flee from wrath
And find in You our Hiding Place: 
There is no other saving path!

Lord, grant us wisdom to persuade

The souls that You have died to win,
That they may thereby see displayed
Your vict’ry for them over sin!
