God’s
mercy has no higher goal
And
contemplates no greater worth Than in the saving of the soul,
For this why came to earth.
His
mercy saves us from perdition
And
pardons us from every sin, And now extends the great commission
To reach the souls that we may win.
The
Lord, of course, must do the saving,
Yet
with His Gospel we are sent. His Spirit will produce the craving
And prompt the sinner to repent.
So
to this end our Lord will bless
And
shine upon us with His face,That we may show His righteousness
That He imparts with saving grace.
The
Lord invites us to be wise
That
we may of His way attest. The Lord will thereby open eyes
Of those who truly seek His rest.
We
see, Lord, Your priority,
And
we rejoice that it is so, That by Your truth You make us free,
And as Your messengers we go.
O
Lord, we thank You for Your Word
By
which we have been born again! Revive in us a heart that’s stirred
To follow You and fish for men.
