Remedy for Rebels

“The rebellious dwell in a dry land… Thou hast ascended on high… Thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.  Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation” (Psalm 68:6,18,19).  “And the angel… sware by Him that liveth for ever and ever… that there should be time no longer” (Revelation 10:5,6). 

How dry is the land where rebellious souls dwell!

How dark is the path they have hopelessly trod!
How fearful the prospect of unending hell
For those who rebel and will not turn to God! 

But God has a remedy whereby He lifts

The rebels who turn who to the Lord while they can.
Our Lord has ascended and has received gifts:
Salvation for rebels?  Yes, this was His plan! 

O Lord, we give thanks for Your benefits sent

To rebels like us who have turned their own way.
For all we, like sheep, had to likewise repent,
And still we are prone to rebel to this day!

The day is approaching when time shall thus end,

And rebels shall no longer find saving grace.
So may we be patient with rebels You send
And urge them to call on You, seeking Your face!
