“He
found him in a desert land… He led him about, He instructed him, He kept him as
the apple of His eye. As an eagle
stirreth up her nest, and fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her
wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings, so the LORD alone did lead him….
And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people…
and he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among
you this day… for it is not a vain thing for you, because it is your life”
(Deuteronomy 32:10-47). “My son, attend
to My words… for they are life unto those that find them…. Keep thy heart with
all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:20-23).
The
lyrics flowed from Moses’ song
Recalling
desert strife,
When
God had led His own along,
And
He preserved their life.
They
were the apple of His eye;
He
gave them His protection.
As
eagles teach their young to fly,
He
led them with perfection.
How
beautiful these lyrics were
Which
spoke of eagles’ wings,
And
still these words of life will stir
A
joyful heart that sings!
We
keep our heart with diligence
With
lyrics such as these,
And
live life simply in this sense:
It’s
God alone we please.
Lord,
let Your lyrics lead our heart
To
live by Your instruction,
To
serve You only, and depart
From
vanity’s seduction!
