Thirst for His Thoughts

"The thoughts of man… are vanity… In the multitude of my thoughts within me Thy comforts delight my soul" (Psalm 94:11,19).  "The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD… Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established" (Proverbs 16:1,3).  "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father… that He would grant you… to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:14-19). 

The thoughts of man are vanity,

And foolishly they are inclined

To fall for the insanity

Of blindly following the blind. 

The thoughts of God are wonderful

Provided in His precious Word

With comforts that delight the soul

Through promises that we have heard. 

The preparations of the heart,

With thoughts that dwell on things above,

Our Lord and Savior will impart

That we may comprehend His love. 

Lord, thank You for Your thoughts so great

That satisfy our deepest thirst

As we are called to contemplate

Your wondrous love that loved us first!
