Bountiful Benefits

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:  who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's" (Psalm 103:2-5).  "Having forgiven you all trespasses, blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us… [He] took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross" (Colossians 2:13,14). 

God's benefits are bountiful,

Yet very costly:  none are free, 

For Jesus Christ poured out His soul

To purchase them for you and me.

He pardons our iniquities

And purges them away as dross;

He heals all our soul's disease

By His travail on His cross.

The Lord redeems us from destruction;

He crowns us with His grace and truth. 

Though outward strength may see reduction,

His joy renews our inward youth. 

Your benefits are great, O Lord,

And we remember, too, their price,

For all this bountiful reward

Was purchased by Your sacrifice.
