"My heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God" (Psalm 84:2). "All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled… Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire" (Ecclesiastes 6:7,9). "Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you… And Jesus said unto them, I am the Bread of Life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst" (John 6:27,35).
Our
heart has a hunger that's higher
Than
all that our labor can fill.
The
wandering of our desire
Shall
leave us unsatisfied still.
Our
temporal needs we supply
Through
wages of daily endeavor,
But
none of these things satisfy
That
ransom that saves us forever.
Our
hunger and thirst for God's love
Could
only be met by our Savior,
Who
came down from heaven above
To
meet us with His saving favor.
Lord,
whether we're older or younger,
The
need of our soul is the same:
The
yearning of our higher hunger
Is
met as we trust in Your name.
