"Be wise in thy latter end… The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil" (Proverbs 19:20,23). "One of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God?... And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise" (Luke 23:39-43).
There is a truth
that's obvious:
Our lifetime on
this earth shall end.
The fear of God imparts
to us
A foresight we
should comprehend.
Eternity is
drawing near;
The Word of God
instructs us well
And wisely guides
us by His fear
To find His Hiding
Place from hell.
The malefactor on
the cross
Who trusted in
the Lord was wise.
His sins were
purged away as dross,
And he would be
in paradise.
We see the
fruitful fear, O Lord,
By which You
motivate the lost
To find salvation's
great reward,
Rejoicing that
You paid the cost!
