"Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee... But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God" (Psalm 70:4,5). "By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil" (Proverbs 16:6). "Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline... I will not again pass by them any more" (Amos 7:8). "The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost... thou knewest not the time of thy visitation" (Luke 19:10,44).
There
is a plumbline which is placed
To
mark the time of visitation
When
we are called to then make haste
To
seek the Lord and His salvation.
By
truth and mercy sin is purged,
And
men from evil will depart
By
godly fear as they are urged
To
turn to God with all their heart.
The
plumbline shows that fearful place
Where
God has said He'll pass no more.
The
Lord extends His saving grace
While
He is knocking at the door.
O
Lord, we see the plumbline cast
Which
You have placed before the grave,
Beyond
which hope is gone at last
To
heed the Gospel that You gave.
