Higher Heritage

"Lead me to the rock that is higher than I... Thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear Thy name" (Psalm 61:2,3).  "Keep My commandments, and live; and My law as the apple of thine eye" (Proverbs 7:2).  "Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation" (Joel 1:3).  "Many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them" (Luke 10:24). 

We have a heritage that's higher

Than every problem we may face. 

Exceeding all we could desire,

We hold God's Word of truth and grace.

Let not the Word of God we hold

Be hidden from our generation. 

Our children's children should be told

The wondrous truth of God's salvation.

Since kings and prophets have desired

To hear the things that we have heard,  

So much the more, then, is required

From us who hold God's precious Word! 

O Lord, this higher heritage,

Is greater than we comprehend!

As stewards of this privilege,

We preach the Gospel You extend.
