"God
arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth" (Psalm 76:9).
"A prudent man
foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are
punished" (Proverbs 22:3). "So
the people of Nineveh believed God... from the greatest of them even to the
least of them... and God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way"
(Jonah 3:5,10). "For the law was
given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ... Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the
sin of the world" (John 1:17,29).
When
God arose to save the meek,
He
did not compromise His laws.
When
we were sinful and so weak,
Christ
died for us to plead our cause.
A
prudent man foresees the wrath
And
hides himself in God's salvation.
The
fool continues down the path
That
ends at last in condemnation.
In
Nineveh, at Jonah's preaching,
They
turned to God in true repentance.
The
Lord in mercy then was reaching
To
rescue them from judgment's sentence.
Your
mercy on the meek, O Lord,
As
was foreseen by Abraham,
Now
bids us find our great reward
In
You, salvation's spotless Lamb!
