Walking in this Wilderness

“For the LORD thy God… knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness… thou hast lacked nothing” (Deuteronomy 2:7).  “The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil” (Proverbs 19:23).  “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” (Mark 12:30,31).

We’re walking through this wilderness
As God is leading all the way.
He knows our joy and our distress,
Yet He faithful every day.

Through all our years, in peace or strife,
His Word has been a faithful guide.
In every season of our life,
He never failed to provide.

He’s taught us how to fear the Lord,
By which we learn His way is best.
When others ways have been explored,
They lead to sorrow and unrest.

Within this dry and thirsty land
He satisfies our deepest thirst
As we fulfill His great command,
With all we are, to love Him first.

He teaches us to love our neighbor
As we have given Him control.
He fills our hearts with love to labor
In harvest for each precious soul.

O Lord, how perfectly You lead!
You’ve shed Your light upon our path,
You’ve satisfied our every need,
You’ve saved us from eternal wrath.

This wilderness we’re walking in,
O Lord, is filled with apathy!
We pray that souls yet lost in sin
Will think about eternity!

Lord, keep us walking close to You
As through this wilderness we’re led,
To show Your saving grace is true,
Since You are risen from the dead!
