“Because the LORD loved you… the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you” (Deuteronomy 7:8). “O send out Thy light and Thy truth: let them lead me… unto God my exceeding joy” (Psalm 43:3,4). “Through the tender mercy of our God… the Dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace” (Luke 1:78,79).
God’s
light and His truth have been sent,
Which
darkness could never destroy,
For
not even death could prevent
Our
Savior’s great triumph of joy!
And
now by His light we are led,
And
no one can put that light out.
Fulfilling
all things that He said,
His
truth has removed every doubt!
The
Dayspring on high has come down,
And
stood against darkness to fight.
Our
Savior came forth with the crown,
And
darkness has fled from His light.
To
those in the shadow of death
We
call, as they draw near the grave
(And
nearer with each borrowed breath):
The
Dayspring stands ready to save!
How
strangely do many respond,
Preferring
the darkness they’re in,
Despising
the Light which has dawned
Who
offers to save them from sin!
When
time ends, rebellion will cease,
But
then shall God’s grace be denied
To those who rejected God’s peace
Before
they had finally died.
O
Lord, we give thanks that You came
And
fought for our souls on the cross.
Your
light exposed all of our shame,
Then
purged it completely as dross!
O
Dayspring, our Lord Jesus Christ,
For
us You came down from above
To
die in our place, sacrificed
Because
you were moved by Your love!
O
Lord, as the darkness still looms
Deceiving
so many today,
We
see sinners march to their tombs
Without
ever stopping to pray!
In
view of Your mercies so tender,
O
Lord, which each morning are new,
We
come to Your throne to surrender
That
we may lead others to You.
