“O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together” (Psalm 34:3). “The heart of the righteous studieth to answer” (Proverbs 15:28). “Jesus… asked His disciples… Whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto Him, Thou art the Christ… And He [Jesus] began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again” (Mark 8:27-31).
How
good it is to magnify
The
Lord who gave His life for us!
When
Christ has captured every eye,
His
praise is rightly glorious!
As we have studied Jesus Christ
And in His presence we have halted,
Recalling He was sacrificed,
How greatly then is He exalted!
Now let us study the Messiah,
To worship Him for who He is:
The King foretold by Zechariah
Who gave Himself to call us His!
Christ’s question leaps from Scripture’s page:
Now “Whom do YOU say that I am?”
The answer stands from age to age:
He is the great Passover Lamb.
He is the Lord of all creation,
The Judge of all the human race,
The only Pathway of salvation,
The Christ who saves us by His grace.
He is the Son of God’s delight,
His Gift of love unspeakable,
Who by Himself has fought our fight
Upon the cross to save our soul.
He is the Holy One foretold
In prophecies that He’d fulfill,
The great Messiah we behold
Who always did the Father’s will.
The Scriptures to our Lord were plain
(Which to His own were a surprise):
He told them that He would be slain,
And on the third day He would rise.
O let us magnify His name:
The Lord’s Messiah, our great Savior,
The One who to our rescue came
And died to grant His saving favor!
O Lord, receive our grateful praise
For all You’ve done and yet shall do
As we delight to fix our gaze
And in Your presence worship You!
Lord, guide us also on our path
To magnify Messiah’s love,
That sinners yet may flee from wrath
Who humbly seek Your face above.
