Pressure to Pray

“I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and Thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.  For this shall every one that is godly pray unto Thee in a TIME when Thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto Him.  Thou art my Hiding Place” (Psalm 32:5-7).   “The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.  Good understanding giveth favor: but the way of transgressors is hard” (Proverbs 13:14,15).  “Men should repent” (Mark 6:12).

There is a time when men should pray,
As God calls sinners to take heed.
That time appointed is “today.”
Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

This pressure calls for a decision
Because our days on earth are fleeting.
As God reveals man’s condition,
Time presses on without retreating.

As in the day of Noah’s flood
When Noah in the ark had entered,
We hide in Christ who shed His blood,
As all our hope in Him is centered.

The moments pass as truth is scorned,
Yet scorning does not stop the clock.
The sinners surely have been warned
Who still continue thus to mock.

How foolish is the sinner’s strife
Who yet refuses to repent
And will not come to Christ for life
As fleeting moments thus are spent.

But God is giving understanding
To all who humbly seek His face,
Who thus repent, as He’s commanding,
That He may save them by His grace.

His understanding offers favor,
As moments pass and pressure mounts,
To turn in time to trust the Savior;
Our life is short!  Each second counts!

O Lord, the pressure You’ve applied
On those You prompt to thus beware,
Displays Your mercy magnified
Each time You hear the sinner’s prayer!
