"I am the LORD your God.... Therefore shall ye observe all My statutes, and all My judgments, and do them: I am the LORD" (Leviticus 19:36,37). "There are many devices in a man's heart, nevertheless, the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand" (Proverbs 19:21). "They were astonished at His doctrine: for He taught them as One that had authority" (Mark 1:22).
He teaches with authority:
His Word should be obeyed.
His counsel stands eternally;
His grace extends His aid.
Now Who is this admonishing
And teaching by His Word,
With doctrine so astonishing,
Unlike all others heard?
It is the Lord our God we hear,
Who saved us by His power,
Reminding us that He is near,
With grace for every hour!
It is astonishing indeed
That God would stoop in love:
He paid the ransom sinners need
By coming from above.
We see the awesome sacrifice
Our Savior came to give!
With His own life He paid the price
That we might thereby live!
O let us not approach His Law
With vision that is dim,
But come astonished and in awe
That we are hearing HIM!
With love astonishing our heart,
With light by which we see,
We thank You, Lord, that You impart
The truth that makes us free!
