"By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil" (Proverbs 16:6). "So worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets, and have hope toward God... that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. And herein do exercise myself to have always a conscience void of offense toward God and toward men" (Acts 24:14-16).
The mercy and the truth of God
Have purged us from iniquity,
For on our Savior fell His rod
That judged our sin at Calvary.
So how can we continue in
Iniquity that caused such pain,
And worship Him who bore our sin,
Who died to thus remove its stain?
Believing all the prophets said
Regarding Jesus Christ our Lord,
The resurrection of the dead
We look expectantly toward.
So since that day approaches when
We'll stand before our risen Savior,
Let us live toward God and men,
To cleanse our conscience and behavior.
