Cause for the Curse

"The curse causeless shall not come" (Proverbs 26:2). "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.... Wherefore God also gave them up... who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up.... And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind" (Romans 1:21-28).

We see everywhere throughout the creation
What God declared good became worse:
Distress and decay, disease, devastation,
And death are all part of the curse.

The curse has a cause in the reprobate mind;
Unchecked it becomes more depraved.
We need only search in our own heart to find
This cause and our need to be saved!

The fool may declare himself to be wise;
The sinner may call himself good.
The truth is exchanged everyday for such lies,
With a consequence not understood.

O come to the cross where the curse has been met
By the Savior who bore all our sin!
O come to the Lord who has paid all our debt,
When He died for the souls He would win!
