"Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher... and they found the stone rolled away... and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.... And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: and... said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how He spake unto you when He was yet in Galilee, saying, The Son of Man must be delivered into the hand of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered His words" (Luke 24:1-8).
Now on the first day of the week,
On the third day since Christ died,
Our Lord's disciples came to seek
His body that was crucified.
But very early on that day,
Before the sun began to dawn,
They found the stone was rolled away
And that His body now was gone!
While this troubled much their mind,
Two in shining robes then said
That they would surely never find,
Their risen Lord among the dead!
O may we never lose the thrill
That made their joyful hearts then race!
Our Lord is truly risen still
To save and keep us by His grace!
