"The company of Korah... strove against the Lord: and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign. Notwithstanding, the children of Korah died not" (Numbers 26:9-11).
Korah died with those who strove
Against the Lord their God in sin.
Yet in this tragedy God wove
Salvation for his careful kin.
For Korah’s children had discerned
The rebellion of his hardened heart,
For God’s anointed one he spurned,
And in this they would have no part.
So it was, as Moses warned,
The earth then opened up and swallowed
Korah, who rebelled and scorned,
And all of those who with him followed.
Notwithstanding Korah’s children
Did not perish on that day,
For they decided they would listen
To the Lord, and Him obey.
Hereby we have God’s instruction
That we may avoid the path
That leads so many to destruction
Who refuse to flee from wrath.
