"The LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not… any helper for Israel" (2 Kings 14:26). "The LORD hath made known His salvation… He hath remembered His mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God" (Psalm 98:2,3). "Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?" (Proverbs 20:9). "He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).
The
Lord has seen the great affliction
Of
those who helplessly have cried
Beneath
the load of deep conviction
Of
sin which cannot be denied.
Our
sin had caused a separation
Which
we were helpless to prevent,
But
God our Helper brought salvation
For
humble sinners who repent.
The
distance is removed between
The
Lord and sinners who are led
To
find the grace that makes us clean
By
precious blood which Christ has shed.
O
Helper of the helpless soul,
Apart
from You, Lord, there is none
Who
saves with grace so wonderful
And
finishes Your work begun.
