"The children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God… after their former manner" (2 Kings 17:9,40). "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes… it shall not cleave to me" (Psalm 101:3). "My son, give Me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe My ways" (Proverbs 23:26). "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true… honest… just… pure… lovely… are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" (Philippians 4:8).
How foolishly do
people think
That there are
secrets they can keep
From God, whose
eyelids neither blink,
Nor do they ever
close in sleep.
The former
manner of our ways,
Before we
trusted Jesus Christ,
Should be
replaced with grateful praise,
And not those things
which once enticed.
How gracious is
the invitation
To give the
fullness of our hearts
To Him who
purchased our salvation
With every
blessing He imparts.
Lord, as we
think now on these things
Which You have
said are pure and true,
We find the portrait
Scripture brings
To cleanse and thrill
our hearts is You.
