"If it had not been the LORD who was on our side… then the waters had overwhelmed us … Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare… Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth" (Psalm 124:2-8 ). "Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom… The name of the LORD is a Strong Tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe" (Proverbs 18:1,10). "God hath visited His people" (Luke 7:16).
If
God had not been on our side
To
pull us from the raging flood,
We
would have perished in that tide
Apart
from Christ's redemptive blood.
We
are escaped, as if a bird
Which
was ensnared, has been set free,
Since,
just in time, God sent His Word
And
gently said, "Come unto Me."
His
Word then caused a separation,
To
seek Him in that fearful hour.
He
offered to us His salvation,
And
we escaped into His Tower!
That
Timely Tower, Lord, was You;
For,
just in time, to You we came,
Or
rather, just in time, You drew
Our
hearts trust Your saving name.
