"Yea, He loved the people; all His saints are in Thy hand: and they sat down at Thy feet; every one shall receive of Thy words… The eternal God is Thy Refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms" (Deuteronomy 33:3,27). "Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding" (Psalm 119:73). "Jesus… saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and He began to teach them many things" (Mark 6:34).
The love of God was surely sweet
When, tenderly, He taught His own.
The
people sat down at His feet
As
His commandments were made known.
He
was their Refuge from all harms,
Like
Daniel from the lion's teeth,
Embraced
in everlasting arms
Which
He assured were underneath.
The
hands of God that make and fashion
Our
souls have proved He knows us best
Who
teaches us with great compassion
To
come to Him and find our rest.
O
Lord our God, our Tender Teacher,
We
thank You for Your saving grace
Declared
on earth to every creature
Whom
You have taught to seek Your face!
