"He gathereth the waters of the sea... Stand in awe of Him... The counsel of the LORD standeth forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations" (Psalm 33:7-11). "If thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it" (Proverbs 9:12). "I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over... Hast thou seen this?" (Ezekiel 47:5,6). "[Jesus] began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith He unto them... tarry ye here, and watch with Me" (Matthew 26:37,38).
God made the waters with a word
And gathers them within the sea.
His weighty counsels which we've heard
Shall stand for all eternity.
The thoughts of God have been revealed
That generations may be warned
To flee from wrath and thus be healed
Or be condemned with those who scorned.
The vision of Ezekiel
Could see the temple waters grow
Into a river that would swell,
By which the grace of God would flow.
O Lord, those weighty waters came
With judgment's billows and its waves
Upon You when Your bore our shame;
We stand in awe at grace that saves!
