"They
that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their
riches; none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a
ransom for him, for the redemption of their soul is precious... But God will
redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive me"
(Psalm 49:6-15). "Jesus took bread... and said, Take, eat: this is
My body... He took the cup... and He said unto them, This is My blood of the
new testament, which is shed for many" (Mark 14:22-24).
As
we recall the precious cost
That
Jesus paid for our redemption
To
ransom us when we were lost,
We
see it passes comprehension.
Not
all the wealth in every place
Could
ransom even one poor soul.
There
was a price for saving grace
Which
our Redeemer paid in full.
The
daunting power of the grave
Cannot
remove our confidence,
Since
our Redeemer lives to save
And
shelter us with His defense.
Remembrance
of redemption, Lord,
Is
treasured with each
precious token:
The wine and bread now point us toward
Your
blood You shed, Your body broken.
