"Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will He teach sinners in the way... What man is he that feareth the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way that He shall choose" (Psalm 25:8,12). "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge... Turn you at My reproof: behold, I will pour out My Spirit unto you, I will make known My words unto you" (Proverbs 1:7,23). "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost" (Matthew 18:11).
How good and upright is the Lord,
Who teaches sinners in the way!
His Holy Spirit is outpoured
To turn those who have gone astray.
The fear of God is the beginning
Of knowledge that His Spirit teaches.
He sought us when we yet were sinning;
How far His tender mercy reaches!
Descending as the Son of Man,
Our Savior came to save the lost.
What tenderness devised His plan,
Compelling Him to pay this cost!
We thank You, Lord, for love so tender
That prompted You to leave Your throne
To be our Savior, our Defender,
And Teacher of Your truth made known.
