Voiding in Vain

"It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void Thy law" (Psalm 119:126).  "They hated knowledge... Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way" (Proverbs 1:29,31).  "Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break My covenant of the day, and My covenant of the night... then may also My covenant be broken" (Jeremiah 33:20).  "Receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may... serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear" (Hebrews 12:28).

In vain does man think to make void
The law God has made absolute.
By arrogance he is destroyed
And eats of his own bitter fruit.

The challenge of God has been spoken:
Just change either day or the night,
And then may His mandate be broken;
There's not a contender in sight!

God's kingdom can never be moved
Which we have received by His grace.
His unchanging Word has been proved
By every fulfillment we trace.

O Lord, You have made very plain
The truth You established forever,
Which fools are yet voiding in vain,
Professing themselves to be clever.
