"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy" (Psalm 126:5). "The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy... A true witness delivereth souls... The wicked is driven away in his wickedness" (Proverbs 14:10,25,32). "They did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them" (Jeremiah 46:21). "God... saved Noah... a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly" (2 Peter 2:9).
The witnesses whom God will send
Are messengers whom He will fashion
To weep for those He would defend
With tears reflecting His compassion.
There's joy that comes to those who win
The souls whom Jesus died to save.
He came to take away their sin,
And to this end, His life He gave.
Yet joy and sorrow are not strangers,
As in the Man of Sorrows' case,
Who saw the fast approaching dangers
Of those who would refuse His grace.
Before the flood, Lord, through the years,
Your Spirit strove when Noah preached.
So by Your Spirit, give us tears
Today for those who may be reached.
