Riches in our Ransom

"There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches... The ransom of a man's life are his riches" (Proverbs 13:7,8).  "Seekest thou great things for thyself?  Seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee" (Jeremiah 45:5).  "His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue" (2 Peter 1:3). 

Some people search their whole life long

For riches that evaporate

Without admitting they were wrong

Until, alas, it is too late!

The riches that we ought to seek

Are in the ransom and reward

That God is giving to the meek

Who trust in Jesus Christ our Lord. 

If we are seeking greater favor

Than riches that will fade away,

Then let us look to Christ our Savior

And give our heart to Him today! 

Lord, thank You for Your saving power,

For riches in our ransom paid,  

For blessings on us that You shower,

And for Your life in us displayed.
