“Thou, even Thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men” (1 Kings 8:39). “LORD, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble: Thou wilt prepare their heart, Thou wilt cause Thine ear to hear” (Psalm 10:17). “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10). “Ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:9,10).
The
Lord alone knows every heart;
He
hears the proud heart and the lowly.
Our
understanding has a start
With
knowing that the Lord is holy.
The
fear of God is the beginning
Of
wisdom that obtains His grace.
The
foolish proudly goes on sinning;
The
wise will find God’s Hiding Place.
The
Lord can hear the deep despair
Of
those who humbly will draw near.
The
humble heart He will prepare,
And
He will cause His ear to hear.
He
turns our hearts to Him alone,
The
true and living God above,
Forsaking
idols we had known
To
serve the Lord we come to love.
The
Lord delivers us from wrath;
He
leads us forth in His salvation.
His
promises shall light our path
And
thrill us with anticipation.
O
Lord, the Hearer of our hearts,
Discerner
of the hearts of men,
We
see the hope Your Word imparts;
We
know that You will come again!
Until
that day, Lord, draw us nearer
To
worship You, our God and Savior,
And
show the lost that You’re the Hearer
Of
humble hearts that seek Your favor.
